2017 Plan Options

For 2017, the State Health Plan will continue offering three Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC):

  • The Consumer-Directed Health Plan (CDHP) 85/15 with a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)

  • The Enhanced 80/20 Plan

  • The Traditional 70/30 Plan

What's New for 2017?

  • Under the Enhanced 80/20 and Traditional 70/30 Plans, there are changes to the annual deductible, out-of-pocket maximum and various copays.​

  • Under all three health plans, the formulary, or drug list, for prescription drugs is moving from an open formulary to a closed formulary.

    Under a closed formulary, certain drugs are not covered. Members who are currently taking a drug that will not be covered beginning in 2017 will receive information regarding their prescription.

  • Under all three health plans, there is a new Diabetic Testing ​​Supplies pharmacy tier that includes coinsurance or a copay for test strips, lancets, syringes and needles
